Google takes first steps in achieving Universal Search
Thursday, May 24th, 2007Google has taken the first steps to upgrading their search facility, Universal Search. Soon, when using Google to search for your latest ‘must have gadget’ the SERP’s will include search results from all of its content sources such as Google News Stories, Google Images, Google Video, Google Blog etc.
Google’s ultimate aim is to search all their data in real time and deliver a single, integrated set of search results offering the user exactly what they are looking for, meaning users no longer need to perform several different searches to find such an vast array of information about a certain topic. Google have also changed the way it displays the search results, for example, video thumbnails are included right next to the video search results. You can even watch the video in your search results page (so long as the video is on Google Video or YouTube). News items and recent blog posts relating to your search will be clustered together at the top of the results.
