As part of continuing growth into building and promoting international websites, a team from Metafocus attended the prestigious International Search Summit at the British Library,  London recently.

It was a really interesting day, with speakers covering topics as diverse as customer retention on a global scale, the internet market in Japan and optimising for Baidu, something which we know a fair about already through all our Chinese website projects.

All the speakers were of a very high standard and had some real insights into not only the internet markets in various countries around the world but also the technical issues behind international internet marketing and website creation.

We had a double celebration meal last night, marking not only Metafocus’s 10th Anniversary but also saying goodbye to Tonny, our Sales Director based in Chengdu China. Tonny’s been with us for the past 2 weeks, getting hands-on experience of how we work with our clients, sell our services and maintain the top results for those engaged in ongoing online marketing with us. He’s spent time with each and every one of us and gained a really detailed knowledge of what each of us do.

In honour of Tonny, we visited the ‘Han Dynasty’ restaurant on Mansfield Road to experience authentic food from Chengdu, the location of our Chinese office.

Best of luck to Tonny as he ventures back to China to win us even more business from companies looking to promote themselves in the west.

So far, 2009 has been a very busy year for Metafocus. Our team has grown to more international with part time and full time international online marketing specialists and translators working for us. We’ve expanded our client’s to include more export companies wanting to branch out to overseas markets and we’ve also gained many international customers who are eager to break into the UK and European markets. So we have certainly been busy working with new companies as well as existing companies to improve their position in the search engines but mainly to help people grow their businesses online.

To help with our expanding international internet marketing team we have a few new faces join our team recently. We have also had to say goodbye to one of our International team, with the departure of Monika. We wish her all the best back in France with her studies. As part of our expansion into providing global online marketing and multilingual seo services, particularly into China, we’ve just launched 2 sites for a large industrial client, the Metal Improvement Company.

Metal Improvement Company provide specialised metal finishing services including heat treatment, surface finishing and in particular, shot peening. Shot peening is a specialised process where small particles of shot are bombarded against the surface of a component which can be steel, stainless steel, glass or ceramic. This stretches the material’s surface which makes it stronger and most resistant to fatigue, corrosion and cracking etc.

We designed a completely new look for their site and have created 2 separate sites, aimed at the Chinese website market. One version is in Chinese language, www.metalimprovement.net.cn and is hosted in China with a Chinese domain name. To help target the non-Chinese market based in the Far East, we have also completed an English language version, again hosted in China with a subdomain attached to the Chinese domain: english.metalimprovement.net.cn.

Now that the sites are live, we’re commencing ongoing search engine optimisation for both sites, in Chinese and English. We have Online Marketing experts who can work in both languages, so we can manage everything from our SEO Nottingham offices.

Yesterday, the Metafocus crew dressed to impress as we held the first ever “Grow your Business in China” seminar at the Broadway Cinema, jointly supported by Nottingham City Council (NCC) and the East Midlands China Business Bureau (EMCBB).The morning began with a light networking breakfast – a round of bacon cobs and pastries, followed bypresentations by Jason Feehily, Head of EMCBB, John Connelly, International Manager of NCC and our very own Alan Clements, MD of Metafocus.
We attracted a range of visitors, from university students to large exporting companies in the region. The seminar was packed full of information and advice for growing your business in China, from support services available from the EMCBB, the close sister city link between Ningbo and Nottingham (including the very first University of Nottingham Ningbo Campus set up in the thriving Zhejiang Province of Southeast China) and an overview of effective Chinese online marketing techniques for creating a strong Internet presence in a foreign market.

We’ve been using YouTube to promote our clients for quite some time now and finally decided that it was time to create our own YouTube channel to feature these videos and also some of our own recent promotional work. First up is the Global Internet Marketing video which the UKTI filmed at our premises in the Lace Market, Nottingham.

The focus of the video was predominantly the chinese websites and chinese online marketing service which we are currently providing for a number of clients but it has actually resulted in a very nice promotional video showing our team, what we do and how we do it.
