ASP.Net Web Developer
£24 – 30k
We are looking for an experienced .Net web developer to join our team. You will need to have at least two years commercial experience with ASP.Net 2.0/C#, a good understanding of database design, stored procedures and SQL; experience with .Net 3.5 would be advantageous, as would knowledge of other platforms, especially Classic ASP/VBScript and MySQL. The role will also include looking after the company’s Windows servers and network. You will be expected to be familiar with building XHTML/CSS based web sites, content management and ecommerce systems, as well as working with and building on existing systems.
Online Marketing Account Manager
£22 – 26k
You will need at least two years’ experience working in a commercial environment. You will work with a wide range of clients, both UK and international, and be expected to achieve measurable results for each of your clients.
You will have a proven track record of working on SEO accounts, setting up and managing PPC campaigns and managing online marketing plans. A knowledge of HTML and content management systems along with design tools such as Photoshop would be advantageous. As a growing number of our clients wish to promote themselves outside the UK, fluency in one or more European languages would be a great asset.

International Search Summit 2009

Who uses social media sites?
Came across some very interesting statistics today about the average age of the users of various social media sites. To summarise:
MySpace = 26 years old
Twitter = 31 years old
Facebook = 33 years old
LinkedIn = 39 years old
I think this accurately reflects perceptions about what each of these sites/services is used for and by which groups. For example, MySpace has developed into a great resource for music enthusiats and bands etc whereas LinkedIn sits very much in the realm of professionals and business people looking to make contacts and grow networks.
That Twitter and Facebook sit between these two is fairly unsurprising as they are much more general in their scope and relevant to virtually anyone online. It will be interesting to see how these mean ages change over time as Twitter and Facebook find their long-term roles rather than somewhat competing for the same market.
On a personal level, I’m not entirely convinced that Twitter will be around in 12-18 months time as already the bubble seems to be bursting. Until it finds a real reason behind it’s existence, it will be in danger of simply being cast aside as the next big thing comes along. Facebook may have a longer term future as an online depository for images, videos, contacts etc, so long as it stops pretending to be Twitter!!

Anniversary Party / Tonnys Farewell Dinner
We had a double celebration meal last night, marking not only Metafocus’s 10th Anniversary but also saying goodbye to Tonny, our Sales Director based in Chengdu China. Tonny’s been with us for the past 2 weeks, getting hands-on experience of how we work with our clients, sell our services and maintain the top results for those engaged in ongoing online marketing with us. He’s spent time with each and every one of us and gained a really detailed knowledge of what each of us do.
In honour of Tonny, we visited the ‘Han Dynasty’ restaurant on Mansfield Road to experience authentic food from Chengdu, the location of our Chinese office.
Best of luck to Tonny as he ventures back to China to win us even more business from companies looking to promote themselves in the west.
